IJENKO offsets its carbon emissions

By developing a Home Energy Management Solution, we participate in all the necessary efforts to reduce collectively greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and then helping limit climate change.

To go further in this eco-friendly approach, we have worked with EcoAct, a French Carbon consultancy firm, to perform the Bilan Carbone® of our company and of the IJENKO Solution, ie measured the emissions generated by our operations and the manufacturing, transport and the electrical use of our HAN products. We have optimized our operations to reduce our CO2 emissions and have chosen to offset the carbon emissions by investing in a hydropower plant project in India via our Carbon Certificates. Compensation program supported by IJENKO: Malana

Malana is a tribal village, considered to be one of the oldest democracies in the world, in the heart of Himachal Pradesh, India. The region is surrounded by forests and mountains dominated by the Malana Glacier. The project consists of replacing the Kullu district power plants, which are major consumers of fossil fuels generating high levels of greenhouse gas emissions, with a run-of-river hydro-electric power station.

This hydro power station has been installed on the Malana river, in the village of Jari, and, unlike hydro-electric dams, its design has allowed the inhabitants, fauna and flora to remain in place. The plant has created lasting employment in the region and, amongst other benefits for the inhabitants, has allowed schools to be built or renovated.
